The Vinson House

Welcome to The Vinson House! We look forward to having you at our “home away from home.” The Vinson House is a beautiful, historic family home located in a country setting in eastern Oregon. Built in the 1920s by Patrick Doherty, the house sits on 2 acres of property. The home is surrounded by a fully-fenced yard, complete with a grotto fountain and towering fir trees. Adding to the feeling of stepping back into time is a period-era garage and former service station (previously used for the ranch) next to the home.

With original hardwood floors refinished throughout the home, this spacious house includes a modernized kitchen, 5 refurbished bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Escape the everyday at The Vinson House!

Mary Doherty Green is the granddaughter of Patrick Doherty, original owner and builder of The Vinson House. Mary’s father Daniel passed the home on to her, and she and her son, David Green, are the proud co-hosts of the property.

I grew up in this house when it was a successful sheep operation, and later, a cattle ranch. The property now consists of two acres after my father sold the business but retained this house and the smaller area around it. My husband and our extended family have helped bring this project to fruition, and we hope you will enjoy your stay here as much as we do.

My childhood weekends were regularly spent in Vinson with my grandparents and I am thankful to have those memories. My wife, Kaylyn, and I lived in Vinson for the first four years of our marriage before moving away for work. We have many fond memories of gatherings with family and friends in Vinson, and we hope you can build some of your own memories here as well.
